The part which i thought was the most successful was the misty part with the pony and the trap. I thought this part was very Gothic as the sound effects where very loud and the scream was also very loud and the noise was how you shaped the image of what was happening. Creating the perfect mood and also the use of the mist which was really thick.
Another part which i thought was very Gothic was the nursery the way in which the narrator described everything that Mr Kipps saw and the rocking chair. As once again the sound effect was very loud and mysterious. Only later do we see what it is, which adds to the suspense created and the mystery. The toys which are used are all very innocent and as the lighting is not very bright it is hard to see whether the woman in black is there or isn’t. Which once again makes it a tense scene and very mysterious.
Overall I enjoyed the play a lot and was very mysterious. As they used not only limited lighting and the sound effectswhich were very loud. The way that the wind was sound effects was interesting as though it was travelling around the room as it was played in different speakers after a time to give the effect as though it is travelling around the room, such a technique includes the viewer and adds to the atmosphere to share the same feeling of fear as the performer (Mr Kipps).

So far my understanding of Gothic poetry is the theme of portraying fear and using many symbolic images to present other feelings. It is also all about portraying feelings and mystery rather than having a fixed storyline. it is ofter linked to death, and mystery.

right now I am reading the woman in black which I am finding very interesting and I can see he Gothic features which are included in the book. the woman in black is basically about a story from a man’s point of view where he is a lawyer and he has to visit the woman so that he can collect some papers from her about her Will act. the Gothic ca be seen in the way that the villagers don’t talk about the woman and the way that the reader never knows about her, who she is or her background. I have got up to the funeral during which she has appeared as a young woman with a terrible skin disease. when Mr Kipps( the main character) tells this to his friend the friend is shocked and from his reaction we can see that something was wrong.
there are many feautres of teh gthic such as teh house and the location of it. it is issolated and completely seperated form all the other houses.
I thought that overall it is a very exciting book to read and would advise people to read it.

The Gothic is a genre which is commonly used, which began in the century. it is commonly read by woman. it consists of mainly bloody images, death and mysteries. there are many references to darkness and limited light, there are also many different mysteries and deaths. the constant use of nature being personified ads to the suspense of the novel. Furthermore the weather is often used to show the feelings of the main characters.
There are many examples of Gothic literature:
